Horace is a male Herman Tortoise, 3 years old around 5 inches and still requiring specialist care such as vavarium and heat lamp.

He went missing around 3pm on Sunday 28th June during a particular bad rain strorm.

He was in the garden in a brick enclosure which he repeatedly but unsuccessfully tries to escape from. I think he managed it and there was a window of half an hour when I last checked on him to when he went missing. Once out of the enclosure, he had various escape routes as I have recently moved property and not tortoise proofed the garden as of yet. There is a possibility of him being stolen, however it was during a very heavy rain storm and I doubt many people were passing by. He seemed quite happy in the rain and it was still warm so I left him out.

I have alerted the local police, RSPCA, vets, postman and various taxi companies not to mention random dog walkers as there are quite a few passing the property. I also have notices around my house and I have alerted the neighbours. I have put up a £50 reward for his safe return.

I hadn't had him chipped yet but he was quite distinctive as he had a very good diet (very spoilt) and had a black, brown and cream shell, not the usual light brown that I have seen. Also, due to an accident, he only had 3 claws on his left front leg, the attached pictures show he has 4 and were taken prior to his accident...my other half and his big feet trod on his leg. although it now makes him quite distinctive.
