We are desperately worried and would welcome any news even of the worst kind

I adopted Ted from a rescue centre last May. He was 9 yrs old and had lived as in indoor cat with 15 other cats with access to an outdoor run.

We kept him in for a month and initially he was reluctant to go out. He went awol for 2 nights last July and returned as though nothing had happened!!!! He has not gone mising since and goes out via a cat door open 24hrs.

I have 2 other female cats who have never gone missing. Ted is  very friendly and affectionate with us indoors but a bit skittish with us outdoors, ie won`t come to me in the street but sleeps with me everynight. Ted is an excellent mouse hunter caught 8 in 2 hours one night!
