Jake is a very timid cat who we rescued from the streets around 8 years ago. We believe that he has beent reated badly in the past and so doesn't react well to strangers and massive changes in his environment. He is microchipped, but we have never been able to get him to wear a collar as he has found the experience too distressing. He had found the move quite stressful and had spent most of the time hiding from everyone.

We had lived in the house for around two weeks, when my other cat was ready to go outside (he is far more friendly and stable). Jake managed to get outside into the garden, where I left him because I knew if I tried to catch him he would run away. After about 30 minutes I called my other cat in and hoped Jake would follow. However, a loud noise frightened him and he ran out of the garden into a carpark behind my house. He disappeared.

Although Jake is timid, he is very loving once he gains your trust and is very affectionate. However, he doesn't like being picked up so it is unlikely that anyone will be able to catch him to actually take him to a rescue centre or the vet. It is more likely that he will be visiting a house but being elusive.

My other cat is 13 and is now missing his companion of 8 years.

"It has taken me a long time to gain the trust of Jake and losing him like this is very upsetting."
Jake is extremely timid and new to the area.
