George is a sweet little cat with an inquisitive and curious nature. An adventurous cat who likes to be outside, he often disappears for long periods and it would not be unusual for him to be away for a day or two at a time. He is a slim cat with a little face and big green eyes.
He is not very talkative but will meow softly if he’s hungry or wants to be let out.For about two weeks before he went missing the weather was very wet and windy and George had been spending a lot of time indoors. He seemed a bit frustrated during this time, running to the door hoping to get out then coming back in when he saw it was raining. On Friday 8th October George woke me at about 6am and ran to the back door desperate to get outside.
It was a beautiful, bright sunny morning and he seemed so excited to finally get outside after being indoors for so long. I watched him run into the garden and have not seen him since.
Although he is wary of strangers, particularly when outside, he is also quite bold and if someone was feeding him I think he might eventually learn to trust them. Of course it is also possible that he may be trapped somewhere or even been injured or killed - it is the not knowing that is so hard.
I have had George and his brother, Oscar since they were about 5/6 weeks old. One very rainy morning six years ago, a friend of mine found three tiny kittens in her garden with no sign of the mother cat. The littlest kitten, named Cuddles as he was found in the middle with George and Oscar curled round him, sadly died but George and Oscar have been with me ever since. Both are very sweet natured and affectionate and will often follow me round the house until I sit down so they can jump on my lap for a cuddle. George was never happier than when he was sitting on my lap kneading and suckling at his blanket, purring loudly. They are incredibly special to me as I have watched them grow from timid, frightened little kittens into strong, confident, healthy adult cats.
Oscar is much more cautious than George and usually stays close to home.
Since George has been missing however, he has been spending a lot more time outdoors and I’m sure he is looking for him. I keep hoping that one day he will find him and bring him home.
George is a much loved much missed moggy.
